How a gyroplane flies
A gyroplane is a light, open-cockpit aircraft with an unpowered rotor on top. Unlike a helicopter, the rotor isn't driven by an engine — it spins freely from the airflow as you move forward, creating lift the same way a maple seed spirals to the ground.
You sit in the rear seat with your pilot directly in front of you. There's no enclosed cabin — just a small windscreen and open air on every side.
The ride is smooth and remarkably stable, even in gusty conditions. Gyroplanes can't stall in flight, which makes them one of the safest ways to fly low and slow over the coastline.
